The Moon Area High School girls tennis team lost to Butler Area High School in five matches
Thursday afternoon at Moon Area High School.

Butler won all five matches.

The Tigers overall record is now 4-3 and 1-2 in sectional play.

Tigers coach Nick Wilson said he has a good team but one that is still gaining in experience.

“We’re very young,” he said. “A lot of new players starting for the first time. In years past, we’ve had a lot
of seniors and a lot of success from having a veteran team.”

The youth is probably our biggest concern- it’s currently holding us back.”

Junior Emma Patton said she had some weaknesses that affected her match.

“I could have had a better serve,” she said. “I could have hit the ball in more and that could have helped
more with the overall score of the game.”

Patton lost her singles match 1-6, 1-6.

Samantha Vachino also fell 1-6, 1-6, while Emma Patton lost 0-6, 0-6.

In doubles play, Maria- Emilia Sawaya and Sierra Souza had scores of 2-6, 3-6. Enisa Shoshi and Kira Ley were 3-6, 5-7.

The Tigers face Hampton and Seneca Valley next week.
